ABOUT UNIVERSITY
Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “North Caucasian Mining and Metallurgical Institute (State Technological University)” is one of the leading technical universities in the Russian Federation. Founded in 1931 in the city of Ordzhonikidze (Vladikavkaz). Currently SKGMI (STU) is: more than 5000 students studying in 21 directions at 10 faculties: mining and metallurgy, electromechanical, architectural and construction, information technology and electronic technology, biotechnology and industrial ecology, economic, legal, correspondence qualifications and additional education, pre-university training; 34 departments, where a highly qualified scientific and pedagogical team is working, which includes 76 honored workers of Russia and North Ossetia-Alania.
The campus includes 20 well-equipped educational buildings, a dormitory, a large dining room, a buffet, a sports complex with a stadium, and a departmental kindergarten. The second sports complex with a swimming pool was put into operation, and in the Tsei gorge there is a sports and health camp "Tsey" - one of the best in the republic.
University library - one of the richest and most complete technical libraries of universities in the North Caucasus region. Its book fund is more than half a million volumes of technical, socio-political and fiction literature.
